Join Seven Hill Neighborhood Houses and its partners for a month of programming to celebrate Black History Month! This year’s programming celebrates the Black experience and its influence on our musical past and present. All programming will take place at Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses, 901 Findlay Street, Cincinnati, OH 45214. There will be light refreshments, as well as a Shea Butter give-a-away, at each event!

  • February 9th, 5:00 – 6:00 PM
  • Under One Roof: The African American Experience in Music Hall
    • Join us for a presentation by Friends of Music Hall Board member Thea Tjepkema on how African Americans made their mark in Music Hall from its inception! Experience the history of African Americans whose determination and artistry helped set the foundation of American Music.
  • February 16th, 5:00 – 6:15 PM
  • Cincinnati Green Book Sites
    • Join us for a presentation brought to us from the Harried Beecher Stowe House and learn about the origin of the Green Book and its distribution. Learn about Green Book sites throughout Cincinnati as well as sites in the West End, such as the Cotton Club.
  • February 23rd, 5:00 – 7:00 PM
  • Fight the Power: How Hip-Hop Changed the World
    • Join us for a screening of the new PBS Docuseries “Fight the Power: How Hip-Hop Changed the World.”  In episode one, discover factors that led to the birth of hip-hop. Learn more here. The screening will be followed by a discussion led by Damian Hoskins, Executive Director of hip hop Cultural Arts Center, Elementz, as well as a performance from Elementz students.**Thank you to the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, Elementz, Friends of Music Hall, CET and True Shea Butter for their support of these events!**

December 14th: Youth Skating Party

  • 4 – 6 PM
  • This is the last open gym event of the 2022 season. Open gym will resume on Monday, January 9th, 2o23!

December 15th: Community Holiday Gathering

  • Prizes, Bingo & Food: 11 AM – 1 PM

December 17th: West End Winter Wonderland

  • Tree Lighting, print on-site photo booth with Santa, Family friendly activities, Hot Chocolate, Cookies and live music from the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra: 5 – 7 PM

December 18th: Community Toy Giveaway: 1 – 4 PM

  • Free toys for the children of the West End! Sponsored by the DNC and St. Vincent DePaul

PLEASE NOTE: 

  • Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses will be CLOSING EARLY on Friday, December 23rd, and will close at 12 PM. We will also be closed on December 26th & 27th.

The West End community is working on a Choice Neighborhoods Transformation Plan in partnership with the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA). By participating in this survey, you will provide valuable feedback about current businesses in the community and how we can better support the West End business community.
