In observance of Juneteenth, Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses – Findlay Street Center will be closed on Friday, June 18th.
Juneteenth, a celebration of freedom that happens each year on June 19, marks the formal end of slavery in the United States. Even though President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, it was not until June 19, 1865 (a full two years later) that word reached enslaved African people in Galveston, Texas, resulting in massive jubilation that would go on to be celebrated each year in the name of freedom.
As partners in the communities we serve, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our neighbors.
Since 1961, Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses (Neighborhood House) has been serving Cincinnati’s West End Community as a social services resource and community gathering space. The Neighborhood House is an 18,000 square foot building. It is the safe-haven and second home for approximately 2,500 – 3,000 at-risk children, teens, families, seniors, and disadvantaged citizens annually.
